Description of Works
RJT Excavations LTD were contracted by McLaughlin & Harvey Construction LTD to carry out the earthworks for the proposed development at WM Grant and sons Distillers LTD in Girvan. The development of 3 large warehouses, associated areas of external hardstand and parking.
Works included within the RJT Excavations Scope of Work:
- Site clearance of trees for the proposed work areas, with removal from site.
- Installation of silt fencing, surface water ditches and SUDS Pond.
- Topsoil strip & stockpile on site 45,000m3.
- Bulk excavation cut and fill to design line and level, in line with Project design 500,000m3.
- Lime improvement/modification of structural fills 37,500m3.
- Compaction & material testing in line with Project specification.
- Spreading of aggregate as protection layer to warehouse footprints.
- Burn diversion.
- Temporary works – 2no burn crossing formed during works.
- Re-soiling of landscaping areas including pond, burn, flood compensation area and fill emabankments.
- Weather Conditions
- Ground conditions and suitability of site won materials for use as structural fill.
- Environmental – surface water management.
- Value engineering to mitigate offsite disposal and additional cost to client.
- Positive relationships with main contractor and site team.
- Forward planning and identification of potential risks to the project and programmed timescales.
